The sharing economy is the overarching term for this new style of how we do, well, everything. Airbnb, Uber Pool, coworking spaces, etc., are all examples of the sharing economy. And it can save you big when you travel. Some areas are more practical, like apartment renting with apps like Airbnb or sharing rides, but you can also use the sharing economy to find fun things to do and people to meet.
Airbnb has a new Experiences service, where locals act as guides, offering fun things to do in their cities (from cooking classes to walking tours) at a much cheaper price point than traditional activities. There’s also EatWith, in which locals open up their homes and kitchens to travelers for home-cooked meals and meeting new people.
